$1 per Blue Bikes ride will be donated, up to $10,000

New Orleans, LA. –  Blue Bikes’ Ride for Pride fundraiser is back for a third year! This is a creative and simple way that New Orleanians can directly support their local LGBTQ+ community members during Pride month.

This year Blue Krewe, the local nonprofit operator of Blue Bikes, is supporting Project Lazarus New Orleans. For every Blue Bikes ride taken in June, $1 will go to Project Lazarus, up to 10,000 rides. This will potentially raise $10,000 for this local, nonprofit organization.

Project Lazarus is the oldest and largest agency in the Gulf South providing transitional housing and support services to people who are living with HIV/AIDS and experiencing homelessness. Their commitment is to house, heal, empower, and support members of our community so that they can live in the Positive.

Funds raised through the Ride for Pride promotion will support housing, counseling services, medication and treatment access, and other support programs the nonprofit offers.

“Talk about putting “fun” in fundraising,” said Rodney Thoulion, Director of Development for Project Lazarus. “Just by grabbing a bike and taking a ride, you are contributing to the success of our HIV residents who rely on our services to get them on the road to recovery.”

“This Pride month, we have a chance to celebrate the vibrant LGBTQIA+ community here in New Orleans,” said Patrick Urbine, Interim Co-Executive Director of Blue Krewe. “Through Ride for Pride, Blue Bikes is proud to partner with Project Lazarus. Their vital work empowers residents of New Orleans living with HIV/AIDS, and every Blue Bikes ride this June will directly support their mission.”

About Blue Krewe

Founded in New Orleans in 2020, Blue Krewe is a local, community-based non-profit that manages and operates the Blue Bikes program. Recognizing the importance of Blue Bikes as a healthy, equitable, and environmentally-friendly transportation option, local bikeshare enthusiasts – such former Blue Bikes staff, biking and pedestrian advocates, philanthropists, and community healthcare advocates – came together to form Blue Krewe. Here at Blue Krewe, we are committed to our mission to provide the Greater New Orleans region with equitable shared micromobility solutions that are rooted in and supportive of our community.

The Greater New Orleans Foundation provided critical start-up funding and fiscal sponsorship for Blue Krewe. Blue Krewe’s partners include Bike Easy, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, and the City of New Orleans. To donate, volunteer, or learn more visit www.BlueKrewe.org.
